If you are among the 70% of women who are unhappy with the appearance of their breasts, you may be wondering whether breast augmentation can help you achieve the look you desire. Breast augmentation is able to improve the size and shape of breasts, but it is not appropriate for all women.

Breast augmentation primarily adds more volume to the breast. This can give your breasts a more proportionate appearance to your body. A breast implant also alters the shape of the breast somewhat. It can create fullness in the upper part of your breast, increase cleavage, and add projection. If your breasts are sagging slightly because of lost volume following weight loss or pregnancy, breast implants can restore their shape, but more significant sagging requires a breast lift to correct.

A breast lift reshapes the breast, restoring a youthful position and contour, but it only uses the breast tissue available. It cannot increase the size of your breasts, and depending on the amount of tissue, your breasts may look smaller after a breast lift.

For many women, the best solution is a combination of the two procedures, a breast lift with implants that restores both shape and volume to the breasts.

The only way to know for sure which procedure is right for you is to discuss the procedures with a Board Certified plastic surgeon.

If you are looking to restore the appearance of your breasts in the Miami, Florida area, please schedule a consultation with Dr. Jon F. Harrell at the Weston Center of Aesthetic Medicine and Surgery.
