April 6-12 is National Public Health Week

Plastic Surgery in Weston, Fort Lauderdale, Miami, Plantation and Davie, Florida

The American Public Health Association has declared the week of April 6 through April 12 National Public Health Week. Throughout this week, the association will be holding events and distributing material around the country, all to spread awareness about the importance of public health. At The Weston Center, our Ft. Lauderdale plastic surgery office is using this week as an opportunity to remind our patients of the benefits of living a healthy lifestyle.

When patients come to our Ft. Lauderdale practice for a procedure, one thing they frequently worry about is the longevity of its effects: is this facelift going to keep my skin young and tight for years afterwards? Will my breast augmentation need to be complemented with a breast lift? It’s natural to ask these questions. After all, if you’re paying for a younger look, you want that look to stay with you for a long time. And the best way by far to preserve your youthful post-operation appearance is through healthy living.

The following healthy lifestyle choices can help prolong the effects of plastic surgery:

  • Eating a healthy diet
  • Exercising regularly
  • Quitting smoking
  • Limiting your alcohol intake
  • Protecting your skin from the sun
  • Getting enough sleep

Each of these simple actions can make a big difference in a person’s health and appearance when practiced regularly. Healthy living does more than just make you feel better: it can make your skin look younger, help you lose weight, and even sometimes reduce the prominence of lines on your face. When combined with a good plastic surgeon, your physical transformation can be astonishing.
